Now I am the elected member for East Ward on Fremantle Council I am focussed on making informed decisions that shape our community. This involves a lot of listening, a lot of reading and asking questions to deepen my understanding of policies, strategies and plans. I'm best contacted by email, and can meet most week days if requested.
Talk! Talking to neighbours and friends in the electorate helped improve engagement with the electoral process. An informed electorate is more willing to vote.
Donations! Friends, strangers and family volunteered many many hours delivering flyers, painting signs, talking to their networks and hosting signs. I funded my own campaign and received one monetary donation from an old friend that was under the reportable amount of $300.
Preferences! It was a close election. I benefited from the flow of preferences. See the details at the WA Electoral Commission website here.
I hope to achieve balanced decision making with fellow councillors to sustainably progress our city. This will be done with respect for others, while representing the needs and opinions of the East Ward ratepayers.
I'm for peace. I support the City of Fremantle Nuclear Free Zone.
I'm for a working port. I support maximising the use of existing infrastructure through adaptation of innovative solutions.
I'm for compassion. I support expanding the work of local organisations to care for our vulnerable populations.
I'm for a cooler climate. I support increasing our urban tree canopy, building with sustainability at the forefront.
I'm for creativity. I support integrating creativity into all areas of life. Let's reinvigorate Fremantle as a hub of creative arts practice.
